Combined purchase of fabric

Postby Wyu » Mon Jun 22, 2009 12:43 am

Hi hi everyone~!!! ^_^
I'm ordering a type of high quality fabric for kigurumi bodysuit making which can be found here:
http://spandexworld.com/c3/catalog/product/4661
Its a different type of lycra called Neoprin or Neoprene which is most commonly used to make swim wears.

I've been sourcing for places which sells bodysuits including http://www.spandewear.com which also source their fabric from the above fabric merchant. However, spandexwear's bodysuits are marked up to incredibly high prices.
So I have asked my usual lycra suit tailor (who made my Asuka, Meer Campbell, C2 suits) if she can make normal zentai out of the fabric for me, and she said she will be glad to.

I originally wanted to buy the material and make the suit for myself alone, but the shipping for the fabric is expensive.
Having more people split the shipping cost can make the suit very cheap. I will state the prices below.

Fabric Requirements:
Length of fabric required for 1 suit: 2.2 yards
Using spandex world's on site cost calculator:
About 5 suits will need roughly 11 yards and costs $187
That will be about $37 for fabric for each suit.

Tailoring Requirements:
The fabric will be shipped to my tailor in China directly.
The tailor has agreed to a flat fee of about $32 - $35 per suit (Including shipping back to me/you)
They are able to get make it at such prices because their labour and production costs are low (Why do you think so many (correction, everything) thing are made in China today.
This tailor's workmanship is really good, I would describe their initiatives for customers as... intelligent, and they take pride in their work.

Anyways.
So we're looking at about US$70 for a full suit including shipping.
I have the samples for the material, it is handpicked to precisely match the same one use for high quality kigurumi cosplay uses.
As long as I have 5 suits, I will proceed with the order, please make your request below. :)
You must include your height and weight.
Orders will finalise(close) by next week, around wednesday 24th June

Confirmed orders:
Wyu 1x L
Daza 2x M
Casey 1x L
Dan 1x XL
Aya 1x L
Caugun 1x L
Motoko 1x M

With 6 buyers, current estimated price per order: US$72.20

ok, I'm curious enough....

how thick is the material in question? From what I can tell of the fabric link above, it doesn't appear to actually be Neoprene, which is really a synthetic rubber, but a thick nylon/spandex material probably more like what's used in a rash guard.

That being said...it looks similar to the material that Gyotti uses for his suits, which is a fairly thick nylon/spandex (lycra) material. While I'm not sure this particular color will match my mask, I'm at least interested in a new suit even if I don't use it as a hadatai for kigurumi. Will these suits be open or closed face? what about zipper placements?

(btw, my mask is more peach/pink than fleshtone, but the effect of mask and suit matched fools the eye and looks more "anime" styled than trying to match a fleshtone.)
