The Chun Li gallery has been opened for quite some time now. The costume style when my Chun Li cosplay had just debut is of a softer more feminine looking version of the original Chun Li costume. One main difference between the first Chun Li cosplay and the original artwork design of Chun Li is that I wasn't wearing spiked bracers. So as further improve the Chun Li cosplay, I've decided to make a pair of bracers for the costume. This report will contain a some steps which I took in the making process of Chun Li's bracer accessory/prop.

I made two bracers out of 5 pieces of A4 sized cardboard. Two which are white and 3 which are black in colour. A single bracer without the spikes is made from one and a half piece of the black cardboard. The black cardboard is cut and then folded into the shape shown in the picture below.

The black cardboard is cut and folded into the shape in the picture.

As seen from the picture, The black cardboard has been shaped into a strip with frilled flaps on the sides. The center piece of the strip will be rolled up into the shape in the next picture. The strips are to allow the center portion to fold into a round 3D object and cover the sides. The following picture best describe what I mean.

A 3D object emerges from the black cardboard.

The flaps cut into the black cardboard allows the folding of one side of it with ease. One A4 size cardboard can make about 7/10 of a round of one bracer. That is also a reason why one and a half A4 sized cardboard pieces are needed to make a complete round bracer. The flaps on the cardboard are then pasted together both on the inside and on the outside to hold the 3D shape in place firmly. The same process is repeated for the second piece of black cardboard. As for the third and last piece of black cardboard, the same process is repeated except that it is cut into two as only half its length is needed to complete the unclosed side to form a full bracer.

A single bracer is made from 1 and a half piece of black cardboard.

The smaller piece of the side of the bracer is removed so that the larger half can clip onto the wrist. The smaller piece is then snapped into place to close the gap. The A4 size not being able to form the full bracer is intentional for the presence of this gap.

Now that the 3D form of the bracer is complete, it is time to make the spikes. 8 spikes are made from one piece of white A4 sized cardboard. The length of each spike depends on the radius of each circle drawn onto the paper. I did a rough estimate on the largest circle I can draw in order to fit 8 into one A4 sized cardboard. Then the circles are cut out from the cardboard as shown in the pictures below.

Circles are drawn in pencil onto the cardboard below cutting them out. It is important to note that each circle has two flaps attached to its side so that the spike can be attached onto the bracer by these flaps later on.

After the circles have all be cut out, a slit is made in them just at the side of the first flap. Take a look at the following pictures to see what I mean. The spikes are formed simply from round shapes by twisting it into itself.

All the spikes are made then they can be attached to the bracers at the same time. I used the same strong glue I used to paste the velcro strips onto the wigs for this purpose. If you're using the same kind of glue, you'll beed to hold the spike in place for a while before you let go so that the bond is strong. Take a look at the final stages of the bracer production in the following pictures.

The spikes and bracer are ready to be combined.

After the spikes are added, the accessory is completed.

And there we have it, a pair of spiked bracers fit for a female fighter like Chun Li.
That ignoring the fact that it is made of cardboard paper.

The finished product in use. Looks just like the real thing doesn it ~^_^

This pair of bracers might not last for very long, but who knows.
Perhaps I might make another tougher one using a different material if I see the need to next time.
The cost of making for this one? About $3
Have fun if you're trying to make one.
I hope this report has been informative to you.
