After a number of photoshoots, the wig for the mask will start to get tangled and messy even with frequent combing and tidying.
So I consulted a few friends and got a rough idea on how to go about maintaining the wig.
I then learned that I need to use spray on conditioner on the wig and that it will make the wig look shiny and remove the entangling in the wig. So heres what I've done and in my opinion the results are very good.
These are the pictures of my wig before I started to clean it.

Here is how the wig looks like before the maintainance process, It might not look much, but it is extremely entangled and fraying all over. Take a closer look. So today. I went to a local supermarket and bought myself a bottle of spray on conditioner. It isn't expensive, just about US$4.50. Its a V05 150ml spray on conditioner, but I believe any brand will do the trick. Here's how the bottle of spray on conditioner I bought looked like.
I bought just a small volume since I only have one wig which needs to be sprayed and didn't want to buy too large a bottle for a first time experiment. There are many spray on conditioners and some doesn't write "spray on conditioner" on itself soemtimes. But you can tell by reading the details on the bottle. So I took the bottle back home and took the wig out of its long case. To start the wig treatment, first spray several times all over the hair. Make sure that every inch of the hair is slightly damp from the conditioner. You don't have to spray a lot to make the hair damp, definitely not until its dripping wet. Read the instructions on your spray on condition bottle. After the entire wig is damp with spray on conditioner, its time to start combing it. DO NOT use a comb now. As long as your wig is a little entangled, the comb won't get through even with the conditioner. Not even a wide tooth comb...yet. Use all your fingers and go through the hair at every location several times. Use your finger to seperate entangled hair gently, it shouldn't be difficult unless your hair has been badly damaged. If your wig is very badly entangled, it might be hopeless, in the normal case, a properly kept wig should be managable. Brush every spot of your wig with your fingers from the top down until u can no longer catch any entangled bushes. Then finish off with a wide toothed comb or brush and comb thoroughly over the entire wig. If any portions of the wig gets too dry during the process, or you noticed some parts of the wig not dampened by the conditioner, just spray on at the necessary location. When the combing is completed, DO NOT keep the wig immediately, let it dry first. Hang the wig up on a hook or on a dummy's head. The conditioner will continue to work by itself and make the hair even softer and smoother to touch as the conditioner dries. And the final result is very satisfactory. Here is how my wig look like after the treatment.
The wig after the treatment looks fantastic, even from the photograph, it is noticibly
straighter and not much crossing over of hair strands can be seen. The wig now looks as glossy as new and it feels as smooth as silk. Just like a person's conditioned hair. It can be combed almost effortlessly now and the curls have regained its bounce on my wig. From the picture, you can see that the ends of my wig are curled, it was suppose to be a frayed styled brunette wig originally. With the hair in such a good condition now, it is a lot easier for me to control and style it whenever I make photoshoots or video chat with friends. As the current hair condition does not last forever, frequent treatment of the wig is recommended before it gets entangled too much.
New methods to maintain the wig has be found all the time. Prior to the use of spary on conditioner. The simplest yet most effective way to keep a wig well maintained is to comb the wig often. Use a wide toothed comb of soft ceramic bristles hair brush to comb the wig right after use before storing it away. For tangled or curly wigs, use your fingers and comb through the hair as many times as you can or until it feels less tangled.
I hope this report has been informative to you.
